Hix is primarily a British cuisine restaurant, however, it's basement is hiding a brilliant cocktail bar, with a great drinks selection and couches and a lovely atmosphere.
On a Saturday night it is normally packed so, even if you may be be able to get a seat if you're lucky, I recommend booking in advance just to be sure. You will need to order a snack or dessert from the menu as they only have a restaurant licence and then you can spend the rest of time drinking cocktails.
The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and there's always someone around to help you out and take more orders.
The drinks are a bit pricey (£10-15 per cocktail, £7 for beer) so you may want to have that in mind. I always say start from the nice cocktail bar and then move to a pub to drink properly but if you are just going for one drink and an early night it's perfect.
In terms of taste, I think there are some better bars with more luxurious feeling drinks but also much worse so this would be the middle ground in my opinion. Not the best but good enough for a fancy bar.
In general that is a great place in Soho for when you are with sb who doesn't like pubs and would only drink in cocktail bars because you can both show off your local knowledge and get some nice cocktails in. -

I wasn't impressed by HIX. Their signature Heaven and Earth was essentially just a meatball of black pudding served with mashed potatoes. I thought that the food was overpriced given how plain everything tasted. There are better options for British dining in Soho.

100% one of my favorite bars in Soho, and in London for that matter. This is the place I take any out of town visitors. From the fox behind the bar to the extremely awesome bartenders (like Rochelle!!) everything here is a good time. It's a speakeasy type bar underneath the box restaurant. They have bar seating, couches, tables, and high tops. Last time I was here I sat on a chair that was practically on the ground itself. I've never had a bad drink here(and I've had a lot here), and the bartenders are always happy to suggest a drink. Absolutely love Hix.

Went for drinks and bar snacks. Nice setting down below.
Drinks were good. Nice selection of everything.
Snacks were okay. Fried oysters were crispy but had some grit to them. Steak Tartare tasted like loads of worcestershire. Sausages were good. -

Delicious food and our dessert was amazing. My son ordered the prawn burger and I had the steak. Server was great about making recommendations and was also very friendly.
